Tottenham Hotspur are expecting a bid for right-back Kieran Trippier from Serie A champions Juventus this summer and they are believed to be willing to sell, according to The Telegraph.
The Spurs defender was all the rage last summer after impressing for England at the World Cup in Russia, but he then went on to have one of his more disappointing campaigns, despite starting for the Londoners in the Champions League final earlier in the month.
Such has been the fall from grace of the Tottenham regular over the last 12 months, he was actually left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the UEFA Nations League finals.
Spurs have Serge Aurier and the improving Kyle Walker-Peters in the right-back area, so they would be willing to listen to offers around the £25 million mark for the England international, the report states.
That would then give Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino further funds to spend to secure the players he is eyeing up this summer, as he goes about adding to the foundations he has in place, to take the Premier League side to the next level.
The Spurs chief will want to bring new faces to North London, but faces issues with his budget in his pursuit to get those and the other targets he has.
Given the options he has in the full-back position, it would make sense for Tottenham to cash in on one of them and should the European giants come after the 28-year-old, it may be a no brainer decision to let him leave.
There is a general feeling that Tripper could do with a new challenge to revive his career, which still has plenty of mileage in it at the top level, should he put the disappointing form of last season behind him quickly. Juventus could provide the perfect opportunity for Tottenham and the player himself.
