Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that his club are unlikely to make January signings, according to a report published by Sky Sports.
The North Londoners are not in an ideal situation. Heung-Min Son,who has been in great form during recent months, is set to miss up to five Spurs games as he will compete at the Asian Cup for South Korea.
Meanwhile, the likes of Eric Dier, Jan Vertonghen and Moussa Dembele are currently injured and unavailable for Tottenham.
Many fans of the Lilywhites will certainly be feeling that the club should make a few new signings this month in order to bolster the squad and ensure that they can challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Tottenham are currently six points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool but due to their absentees, one would favour the title race to be a two-way battle between Manchester City and the Reds, leaving Pochettino’s charges to challenge for a top four place.
Speaking after Spurs 7-0 win over Tranmere in the FA Cup on Friday, Pochettino insisted that he has enough quality within his side to do well this season.
“[It will be] difficult. I don’t believe we are going to do anything,” the Tottenham boss said.
“I am so happy with my squad but always you can improve.”
Striker Fernando Llorente, who is being linked with a return to his native Spain this month, managed to score a hat-trick during the game as Spurs thrashed their League two opponents.
