Tottenham Hotspur have made a final contract offer to midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to a report published by Spanish newspaper AS.
The report added that the offer would see the Spurs playmaker join Harry Kane as among the highest earners at the North London club.
Losing Eriksen would be a major blow to Tottenham, with the Spanish newspaper talking up a potential move to Real Madrid in January.
His Spurs contract is due to expire at the end of the season and he has yet to agree to a new deal.
This essentially means that the Tottenham star will be free to negotiate with foreign clubs over a potential free transfer from January.
Eriksen has been one of the most-consistent performers for Spurs since his arrival at the club from Ajax Amsterdam during the summer of 2013.
It is however starting to look increasingly unlikely that he will remain a Tottenham player beyond this season.
At 27-years-old, Eriksen is now at the peak of his powers and he has yet to win a piece of major silverware.
The Tottenham man has established himself as one of the best creative midfielders in the Premier League and will no doubt attract offers from major sides, hence he will be tempted for a new challenge at this point.
Spurs are currently also in poor form. They already look to be out of the Premier League title race and suffered a 7-2 humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
This is likely to convince Eriksen even more that he should leave Tottenham for another club.
