Southampton are ready to face West Ham in the match day 17 of the English Premier League at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.
The home side are having a tough season as they are currently placed in the bottom three, largely because of inferior goal difference as they have 15 points, equal to 17th-placed Aston Villa.
However, the good news for Southampton is that they are facing a team who themselves are struggling in the league and have suffered five defeats in last six matches.
Southampton’s form of late hasn’t been that bad as they have secured two wins in last five matches and narrowly suffered a defeat in the previous fixture against Newcastle United.
On the team news front, the Saints will be without right-back Yan Valery who is recovering from illness, as per BBC Sport.
Meanwhile, Southampton midfielders Sofiane Boufal and Stuart Armstrong are doubtful as they continue to recover from an ankle and calf injuries.
The teams have faced each other in 25 matches before where West Ham have a better record with 11 wins compared to Southampton’s eight, whereas six matches ended as a draw.
The Hammers have also secured victories against the Saints in the last three fixtures.
