Southampton face a challenging Premier League encounter against Wolves on Saturday at St Mary’s, hoping that victory can power the south coast club away from relegation worries.
The Saints head into the game five points clear of 18th place Cardiff City and will need to secure as many points as possible during the last few games of the top-flight season if they are to ensure that they avoid relegation this season.
Wolves have proven that they can beat any side in the top-flight this season and will be aiming to win the game so that they can push for a top seven position.
Nuno’s Espirito Santo’s side head into the game against Southampton after having beaten Manchester United 2-1 during their last Premier League game earlier this month.
Wolves did however lose their FA Cup semi-final clash 3-2 against Watford last Sunday and this could affect their confidence.
The last time that the two sides met was in a Premier League encounter in September last year and Wolves went on to beat Southampton 2-0 at Molineux.
In good news for the Saints, they are set to have striker Danny Ings available for the game on Saturday, according to a report published by Sky Sports.
The 26-year-old was not eligible to play for Southampton during the recent game against Liverpool as he is on loan from the Reds.
The report added, however, that Mario Lemina and Saints forward Michael Obafemi will miss the game due to abdominal and thigh problems respectively.
Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl will be aware that his side will need to be on top of their game if they want to secure points from this fixture.
