Something very exciting is happening at Glasgow Rangers at the minute, especially since Mark Allan and Steven Gerrard started working together with new signings and youth teams.
Rangers have carefully arranged bounce games and friendly matches to suit the Ibrox club’s dates, since training started back earlier this season due to the Europa League commitments.
It’s normal to give as many players as possible plenty of game time before the season starts.
Rangers have supplied a reasonably high supply for the huge squad of players still at the club.
It’s the scores that I am excited about: Rangers 5 Oxford 0, Rangers U18’s 9 Huddersfield Town 1, Rangers X1 6 Partick Thistle 1, Rangers 6 Ayr United 1.
On Sunday, Rangers produced their best performance so far, by eating Marseille 4-0 at Ibrox.
Daniel Candelas scored the first two goals in the first half and Nikola Katic beat the keeper from a corner, only for Connor Goldson to steal it on the line. Jermain Defoe got the fourth.
Declan Caddell’s Testimonial on Saturday involved a Rangers X1, who beat Crusaders 5-1 over in Belfast. They entertained the fans and produced another high scoring game.
The Northern Ireland fans were impressed with the young Rangers side, playing fast attacking football to celebrate Caddell’s 12 years of service at Seaview.
Close to being included in the first team, 17-year-old Josh McPake has signed a new three-year-contract to stay at Ibrox. Glenn Middleton is expected to go out on loan. Both started in Belfast, and scored.
Rangers goals were scored by Middleton, McPake, Andy Dallas, Serge Atakayi and Aaron Lyall.
All these results bode well for the 2019-20 campaign for Rangers and show that there is quality through the ranks at the Glasgow club.
