West Ham United picked up a much needed draw with Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday night, and after the match their supporters were full of praise for a star of the show.

The Hammers had not had a good week leading into the clash with the leaders, and they have could been forgiven for feeling a bit down in the dumps when Sadio Mane handed the Reds the lead, but to their credit the home side fought back well.

Manuel Pellegrini would have been eager to see his team get a result against Liverpool, to give his former club Manchester City a helping hand in the title race, and his West Ham players did not disappoint him.

Despite missing a whole host of key men from their squad for the contest, the Hammers were level shortly after the Reds took the lead, when Michail Antonio burst into the box to fire past Alisson to notch the goal that would eventually earn the London Stadium outfit a potential valuable point.

Marko Arnautovic, Samir Nasri, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Manuel Lanzini and Carlos Sanchez were just some of the players missing for West Ham, but they didn’t let that distract them as they put in one of their better performances in recent times.

Antonio has played in a number of positions for the Hammers in his time at the London Stadium and he was used in a wide attacking role against Liverpool, a position he exploited perfectly, having a major impact on the contest.

He hasn’t always been every West Ham fan’s cup of tea, but many of those supporters were quick to recognise the presence he had in the game, and the good work that he did throughout the encounter, not least the goal which secured a solid point in the end.
