Barcelona are on the cusp of claiming the La Liga title for another season, with the Catalan giants beating Real Sociedad 2-1 on Saturday

The goals came from unlikely sources, as defenders Clement Lenglet and Jordi Alba got on the scoresheet to confirm victory.

Barcelona fans were hoping that Lionel Messi could come up with another magical performance, with the Argentine maestro three goals away from scoring his 600th strike for the La Liga giants.

However, on the night the Camp Nou faithful had to make do with an assist from the South American star, as the Ballon d’Or favourite set up the winning goal.

As can be seen in the photo below, Sociedad resorted to drastic measures to try and stop Messi from scoring at a free-kick, with a man lying behind the wall to stop a low shot from the Barcelona man hitting the target.

Messi’s assist was his 13th of the current season, with the Blaugrana man topping the charts in La Liga, while he is also the division’s top scorer with 31 strikes.

The Barcelona superstar is surely favourite to win a momentous sixth Ballon d’Or at the end of the year, with heroics both domestically and in the Champions League this season.
