Tottenham Hotspur warmed up for their huge Champions League showdown in the Nou Camp by beating Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening, and after the match one of their stars of the night was showered with praise on social media.
Mauricio Pochettino understandably made changes to his Spurs side to save some of his elite stars for that clash with Barcelona on Tuesday, and that allowed some of his fringe players to shine under the bright lights.
Tottenham went to the King Power knowing that they needed to win the match to hang on to third spot in the Premier League, and with Manchester City losing earlier in the evening, revive their title hopes.
Despite a fairly even start, Spurs soon engaged their best form and ran out pretty comfortable 2-0 winners. They were sent on their way by South Korea international Son Heung-Min, who found the top corner from the edge of the box on the stroke of half time.
Dele Alli put the match out of reach of the Foxes in the second half, and ensured Tottenham stayed in third place and closed to within six points of new leaders Liverpool.
Pochettino started with Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen on the Spurs bench, which gave the likes of Son another chance to impress with a pivotal role in the match, and he didn’t disappoint.
His goal was the highlight of his performance, but he was industrious throughout the contest and displayed a quality that should see him no longer go under the radar in the bigger matches.
Spurs fans know all about the talents of the Korean, and they were quick to head onto social media after the match to praise him for another very solid display in the victory.
Here are some of their messages:
Great win in what could have been a potentially tricky fixture.
Alli and Son star but in truth there were many many good performances.
