Manchester United legend Gary Neville criticised Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla on Sky Sports Football on Tuesday night (10pm, August 13, 2019).
The former United and England international defender, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, was not impressed with the performance of Casilla for Leeds against Salford City.
The former Real Madrid and Espanyol goalkeeper was in action for the Whites in the first round of their EFL Cup tie against League Two outfit Salford away from home at the Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Neville said about Casilla on Sky Sports Football on Tuesday night (10pm, August 13, 2019): “He parries two back in towards his own penalty spot, I mean I’d be a nervous wreck if I was playing with him to be honest with you looking at him tonight.
That’s the first time I’ve seen him live, but he looks jittery on crosses and he parries balls back in towards his penalty spot. He did make some good saves.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Peninsula Stadium on Tuesday evening, hosts Salford had 38% of the possession, took 15 shots of which five were on target, and earned six corners, according to BBC Sport.
Visitors Leeds had 62% of the possession, took 18 shots of which eight were on target, and earned six corners, according to BBC sport.
Leeds will be pleased with their overall performance against Salford and will now look forward to the second round of the EFL Cup where they will take on Championship rivals Stoke City at Elland Road.
