Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has predicted Tottenham Hotspur to finish third in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham are second in the league table at the moment with 50 points from 24 matches, as many as nine points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are a point clear of third-place Manchester City and three ahead of North London rivals Arsenal, who are fourth.
Former Southampton attacking midfielder Le Tissier has predicted Chelsea to win the Premier League title, City to come second and Manchester United to end up fourth.
Jose Mourinho’s United are currently sixth in the league table with 45 points from 24 matches.
“I think there will probably be a stumble along the way somewhere for Chelsea but they should be champions,” Le Tissier wrote on Skysports.com. “They’ve got a nice run but it’s the time of the year where the struggling teams start to pull out results.
“Then I’ve gone for Manchester City and Tottenham plus Manchester United, who have got the momentum of a long unbeaten streak behind them.”
A footnote added: “Le Tiss predicts: Chelsea 1st, Manchester City 2nd, Tottenham 3rd, Manchester United 4th.”
What is most notable about Le Tissier’s predictions is that he has left Arsenal out of the top four.
The Gunners consistently end up in the Champions League places and finished as high as second last season.
Liverpool’s recent form suggests that they could struggle to keep up with the rest of the chasing pack.
