Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Dani Ceballos this summer, according to a report by Sky Sports.
It is claimed Spurs are discussing a potential transfer with Real Madrid for their midfielder as his future appears to be in the air.
However, signing the 22-year-old on a permanent deal could be difficult for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this summer.
It is suggested that Ceballos would prefer a loan move as he has not given up hope of playing for Real Madrid in the future, whilst finances could also come into play.
The midfielder is understood to have a high release clause, whilst he also has a lengthy contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning the La Liga side could look to demand what they want for him if Spurs wanted to make a deal permanent.
Ceballos is believed to be available on a short-term deal as he could feature for Zinedine Zidane in the future following a rather successful Under-21 European Championship tournament with Spain.
The midfielder was brilliant for his country in Italy throughout the tournament, and according to stats compiled by WhoScored, he managed an average of 3 shots per game, 2.8 key passes, 3.8 completed dribbles, 2 tackles and 1 interception in his five appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process.
With the addition of Tanguy Ndombele in the middle this summer, Ceballos could complete a new-look pairing and could provide Spurs with an added impetus when going forward and that will delight fans at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But, whether Pochettino and Tottenham would be willing to sign him on a temporary deal remains to be seen.
