Some Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment after reported target Romaine Sawyers left Brentford to join West Bromwich Albion.

The Whites have been linked with the talented midfielder for much of the summer, as the Elland Road outfit look to bolster Marcelo Bielsa’s squad ahead of the new season.

While Leeds have some excellent players in the heart of their midfield, speculation over Kalvin Phillips’ future at the Yorkshire club has led many supporters to urge the side’s hierarchy to potentially find an able replacement.

Sawyers has proven over time that he is a canny and gifted operator at Championship level, with West Brom confirming a deal to bring him to the Hawthorns late this week.

While Leeds have relatively modest transfer means this summer, the fact that the midfielder has moved to the Baggies for an affordable £3 million will also stick in the throats of some of the Elland Road faithful.

After the West Brom deal was announced, some Whites supporters took to social media to express their disappointment over the deal – with frustration that it was not Leeds that had landed Sawyers.
