Scottish champions Celtic saw the undefeated start to their title defence end on Sunday afternoon, when they went down 2-0 away to Livingston, and after the match their fans were critical of a key man on social media.

The Bhoys headed into the weekend off the back of a morale boosting revenge win over Cluj in the Europa League on Thursday night, but there were early signs that the effort put in to achieve that victory had taken its toll for the league encounter.

Celtic were flat throughout the contest against the Scottish Premiership strugglers, offering nothing like the controlled and disciplined performance that was required to see them come out on top in the game.

Their chances of winning the match were not helped when Bhoys top scorer Ryan Christie was dismissed for a horrible lunge midway through the first half, and although Neil Lennon’s men got to half-time scoreless, what was to follow was inevitable.

Livingston took the lead shortly after the break, and although Celtic tried everything in terms of throwing attacking personnel onto the pitch to try and rescue something from the game, they were put out of their misery late on when the home side doubled their lead.

If that wasn’t bad enough for the Bhoys, they then had to watch on later in the day and see their rivals Glasgow Rangers win and take top spot ahead of them, going into the international break.

After the match their fans took to social media to reflect on the red card given to Christie, with many supporters surprisingly choosing to criticise the attacking talent for the challenge, and how costly it was to his team’s chances of coming out on top at the Almondvale Stadium, despite the excellent start to the season he has made.
