Sheffield Wednesday will make the short trip to Bramall Lane on Friday night when they take on city rivals Sheffield United and could be without five key men for the heated rivalry, according to a match preview by Sky Sports.

The fixture will be the first match in charge for new boss Jos Luhukay, who recently replaced Carlos Carvalhal at the Owls helm and it could not be a tougher game to open his managerial account.

Wednesday have been disappointing in the Championship this season, having struggled to show any of the same form from the previous campaign, and sit 16th in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Luhukay will be looking for a reaction from his side after their previous meeting with the Blades ended in a 4-2 home defeat and will not want the men in red to have the bragging rights for the city.

However, an already difficult match to get something from could be even tougher with the news of a mounting injury list.

The new Wednesday boss has remained fairly tight-lipped about the status of his players, however, it is no secret that the Hillsborough Stadium outfit has been struggling with injuries to their key players.

Kieran Westwood is one of those big names to be on the sidelines, as he looks to recover from a rib issue, whilst Sam Hutchinson is also spending time on the treatment table with a knee problem.

Gary Hooper, Barry Bannan and Jack Hunt are all doubtful for the match at Bramall Lane on Friday as they all suffer from hip injuries, although Luhukay has not revealed who exactly will be unavailable and who could feature.

Sheffield Wednesday have at least double that amount of players out at the moment ,in fact I can not remember when we only had 5 players not available.
