Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiran Westwood is back in contention for the Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough as the Owls take on Leeds United in Saturday’s early kick-off, writes BBC Sport.

The Republic of Ireland international has missed the last two matches with an ankle injury but Wednesday boss Garry Monk may stick with Cameron Dawson after the stopper kept a clean sheet in the win over Stoke City on Tuesday night.

Midfielder Massimo Luongo has also overcome a minor knee problem, picked up in scoring the only goal of the game against Stoke, and is available for Sheffield Wednesday selection.

Owls defender Tom Lees will not be facing his former club this weekend but has returned to full training this week after a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since the end of August.

Monk was in charge of Leeds the last time the Whites won at Hillsborough back in August 2016 and Marcelo Bielsa’s side have not tasted victory on the road since the 3-0 win over Stoke on August 24.

The Elland Road outfit welcome captain Liam Cooper back to the fold after a groin problem but Bielsa is expected to stick with the same side that drew with Preston North End in midweek.

Eddie Nketiah came off the bench yet again to score and salvage a point for Leeds but has yet to make a full start in the Championship as Patrick Bamford looks set to remain to keep his place against Wednesday despite not netting since August.

The Whites sit one point and one place ahead of the Owls in the league table but Monk’s side are unbeaten in their last three matches and have not suffered a home defeat since losing to Queens Park Rangers on August 31.

Sheffield Wednesday fans will hope that a positive result against their rivals will be a springboard for a positive campaign.
