Sheffield United will be hosting the Steel City Derby on Friday night when they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Bramall Lane and could be in line to hand debuts to a trio of new players, according to a match preview by Sky Sports.
The Blades signed Ryan Leonard, Lee Evans and James Wilson during the week and they could all feature during the game with the Owls.
Chris Wilder’s United side won the last meeting between the two sides with an emphatic 4-2 victory at Hillsborough Stadium and will be looking for more of the same as his team try and push into the playoff spots.
The Blades will be going into the match with confidence after beating Ipswich Town in the FA Cup last weekend and will also have the luxury of being able to make a number of changes.
Wilder made nine before the game with the Tractor Boys and is expected to recall a number of those United players back into his starting line-up for Friday evening.
He will, however, be without three for the derby, with the game coming too quickly for Ched Evans amongst others.
The former Wales international striker had been out with an ankle injury recently, although he has now returned to full Blades training but is lacking in fitness.
Kieron Freeman will also be unavailable for the game against the Owls, as the defender continues to nurse a knee injury, whilst David Brooks also remains out with glandular fever.
