Manchester City academy scout Jakub Bokiej has told Przeglad Sportowy that he is disappointed that the Citizens did not sign Mateusz Bogusz before he went to Leeds United.
City academy Bokiej told Przeglad Sportowy regarding Bogusz: “Leeds United is currently the perfect place to grow. A great training centre, a coach with whom many players from the world leaders and two Poles would like to work – Mateusz Klich and Kamil Miazek, thanks to whom Bogusz’s acclimatisation has been optimal. I can only regret that he did not go to Manchester City.”
One for the future
Bogusz joined Leeds from Ruch Chorzow in the January transfer window and is part of the West Yorkshire outfit’s youth team.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is a very talented footballer, and he is certainly a player who can be hugely successful in the future.
The Poland Under-19 international is not yet ready for the Leeds first team, and it could take the teenager a year or two to break into and establish himself in the Championship club’s senior team.
Of course, if Marcelo Bielsa stays as the head coach of Leeds, then Bogusz could get chances next season, as the Argentine boss has shown that he is not afraid to throw young players into action if he thinks that they are good enough.
Moreover, there have been occasions this season when Bielsa has included the attacking midfielder in his matchday squad.
