Everton manager Ronald Koeman has taken to Twitter to celebrate his side’s hard-fought 2-0 win over Leicester City on Boxing Day.

The Toffees travelled to the King Power Stadium knowing that they would have a tough game on their hands, but goals from Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku heralded three Premier League points.

The Everton supporters were subjected to a heart-breaking last-gasp defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby in their last fixture, but the win at the home of the English champions will go some way to restoring the feel-good factor.

Koeman was quick to praise the travelling support, while the former Feyenoord trainer also called his side’s performance outstanding.

Everton will play Leicester again in the third round of the FA Cup in January, but have Premier League fixtures against Hull City and the Dutchman’s old employers Southampton to negotiate first.

The win at the King Power Stadium lifts the Toffees to 26 points and moves the Goodison club up to seventh in the table.
