New Celtic pair Filip Benkovic and Youssouf Mulumbu are closing in on making their debuts for the Scottish champions, according to Brendan Rodgers.
The duo joined the Bhoys recently, and have been spending the international break getting up to speed, ready to make their bows when they are called upon.
Benkovic is on loan from Leicester City until the end of the season, despite only having signed at the King Power Stadium from Dinamo Zagreb last month.
The 21-year-old is believed to have a clause in his contract that suggests that the Foxes can recall him in January, should they so wish.
Mulumbu arrived on a free transfer at the end of August having previously been with Kilmarnock. He will be expected to add bite and experience to a Bhoys midfield that is quite young, with the exception of Scott Brown.
Both men are yet to play in the hoops, but with plenty of matches on the horizon neither are likely to go short of game time with the Glasgow outfit. Rodgers confirmed that when questioned about the pair.
“We’re hoping they will come into the squad for upcoming games.” The Celtsarehere website quote him as saying at his press conference.
“They’ll get opportunities as we have a busy schedule of games between now and Christmas.”
Celtic play their next match on Friday evening, when they look to build on their win over Rangers prior to the international break.
They make the trip to take on St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, before beginning their Europa League campaign at home to Rosenborg next Thursday night.
It remains to be seen whether Rodgers will use either of his new signings in the first of those games. If he doesn’t the chances are they will feature after that, as the Bhoys face three matches in six days beginning with that European clash.
