Report: West Ham pushing forward with transfer plan, hope to land 22-year-old

West Ham United will aim to sign Antonee Robinson from Wigan Athletic this summer, regardless of which league they will be playing in next season, according to a report by Football Insider.

Wigan are experiencing financial problems and recently had to create a crowdfunding campaign in order to raise funds to keep the club running efficiently.

It is likely that their top performers such as reported Hammers target Robinson will be sold during the summer.

West Ham are a club that will be carefully evaluating their transfer plans and it will be dependent on whether they are playing in the Premier League or Championship next season.

The American is a player who they can realistically aim to sign even if they are in the Championship.

Robinson has been a top-performer in the Championship this season and a first-team regular for Wigan.

The report claimed that the defender had a move to AC Milan fall through in January.

Reported West Ham target Robinson is a youth product of Everton and spent four years in the Toffees first-team setup.

However, he was loaned out to Bolton Wanderers and Wigan for the bulk of that period and never made a Premier League appearance for the Merseysiders.

Wigan will be looking to offload their prized assets during the summer in order to raise funds to cover their operational costs.

West Ham will likely be able to sign Robinson for a bargain fee. He will be able to make the club’s starting xi regardless of whether they are in the Premier League or Championship so a transfer will suit both the club and the player.
