Sunderland are interested in signing George Dobson from Walsall in the summer transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.
It has been reported that the League One club in England are close to securing the services of the 21-year-old central midfielder.
Sunderland officials have reportedly been in contact with their Walsall counterparts and are hopeful that the transfer will be completed shortly.
Good signing for Sunderland?
Dobson is a very good and promising young central midfielder who has done well during his time at Walsall so far.
The 21-year-old progressed through the youth academy at West Ham, but the youngster failed to break into the London club’s first team.
The youngster spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Walsall, and after spending the 2017-18 campaign Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands, he returned to the Banks’s Stadium.
Sunderland reached the League One playoff final last season, but they lost at Wembley Stadium in London and will stay in the third tier of English football for the 2019-20 campaign as well.
