According to Football Insider, Connor Shields will leave Sunderland in the summer transfer window.
Shields is out of contract at Sunderland this summer, and it has been reported that the 21-year-old striker has been informed by the Black Cats that he will not offered a new deal.
The youngster joined Sunderland from Albion Rovers in January 2018, but the striker has failed to break into the first team.
The 21-year-old striker spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Alloa Athletic in Scotland.
According to Football Insider, Dunfermline, York City and Derry City are interested in signing Shields on a free transfer this summer.
It will be disappointing for Shields that Sunderland do not want him anymore, but the youngster should be positive and optimistic about the future given that Dunfermline, York City and Derry City are interested in him.
Shields certainly has potential and is talented, and perhaps in the next few years, he could develop to play in the Championship in England.
