Rangers are interested in signing Aaron Hickey from Heart of Midlothian in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.
It has been reported that new Rangers Sporting Director Ross Wilson will recommend to the Ibrox club to sign Hickey from Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts for £2 million.
The report has claimed that Wilson will urge Rangers manager Steven Gerrard to add the 17-year-old Scottish left-back to his squad in January.
According to The Scottish Sun, Wilson was following the Scotland Under-17 international when he was the Director of Football at Southampton.
Premier League champions Manchester City are also claimed to have the teenager on their radar.
Interestingly, Hickey is a former Celtic player and was on the books of the Glasgow giants’ academy.
It has been claimed by The Scottish Sun that Celtic have a 30% release clause which they inserted when they let the teenager leave for Hears a year ago.
Hickey has made only a handful of appearances for the Hearts first team so far in his career.
