Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks is being targeted by Manchester United and Manchester City, according to The Athletic.
The 23-year-old appears to have fallen down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager of the club.
Winks established himself as an important player for Tottenham whilst the club was managed by Mauricio Pochettino.
Questions however have been raised with regards to whether the Spurs youth-team product is compatible with Mourinho’s style of play.
Winks will surely be concerned about his lack of game time so a move away from Tottenham could be appealing if he is unable to get assurances from his current club.
He will also need to be playing regular football if he wants to be considered for England selection.
United are in need of new players if they want to improve and are experiencing problems in midfield, thus they could do with the addition of Tottenham man Winks to their roster.
City meanwhile also need to reinforce their side at the end of the season.
Pep Guardiola’s side are set to lose the services of the long-serving David Silva at the end of the season whilst 35-year-old Fernandinho is another player who has been tipped to leave the Etihad Stadium.
The report added that Winks has impressed Guardiola who sees him as a strong potential source of competition to Rodri in his midfield.
Winks needs to have serious discussions with Mourinho about his Tottenham future.
If he is unable to get assurances over regular game-time, it may be best to leave Spurs and embark on a new challenge.
