Report: Spurs areconfident of signing PL enforcer

Tottenham Hotspur are confident of signing Kurt Zouma from Chelsea this summer, according to The Sun.

Tottenham’s performances have been below par this season and they face a difficult task to finish in the top four this season.

he club’s defence has been widely criticized for the team’s decline and it is widely believed that Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are beyond their prime.

The 25-year-old Zouma has been a first-team regular for Chelsea this season. However, Frank Lampard’s side are likely to make some big changes to their squad during the summer break and it remains to be seen if the Frenchman will be part of their plans going forward.

The Blues have been linked with the signature of West Ham defensive midfielder Declan Rice.

Rice is able to operate as a centre-back and his arrival could lead to Zouma being declared surplus to requirents at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.

Zouma joined Chelsea in 2014 from French club Saint-Etienne. The Blues were managed by Jose Mourinho at the time.

The five times capped French international has vast experience in the Premier League, having also had loan spells with Stoke City and Everton.

Prior to the start of this season, he was widely regarded as being surplus to requirements to Chelsea.

The Blues transfer plan forced Lampard to re-integrate Zouma into the first-team picture at the start of this season.

Chelsea’s young side has exceeded expectations this season and they will likely be better next season given that they will be bolstered by the arrivals of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
