Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers are working on a deal to sign Oldham defender George Edmundson, according to a report published by Football Insider.
The report added that the 21-year-old has already spent time at the Gers training ground headquarters as they look to beat other clubs to his signature.
Other clubs that are said to be interested in signing the reported Rangers target include English Championship sides Hull City and Stoke City.
It is likely that Edmundson will end up leaving Oldham this summer considering that his current deal with them expires during the summer of 2020.
He will also likely be wanting to move to another club, like Rangers, at this stage of his career in order to take his career to a new level.
Edmundson was a first-team regular for Oldham during the recent League 2 campaign. He went on to make 45 League appearances for the club, scoring two goals and notching two assists. He has all the ingredients and qualities which are required to succeed in the Scottish top-flight with Rangers.
Rangers were vastly improved this season under Steven Gerrard. However, it is quite evident that they need to bolster their squad this summer if they want to land silverware next season and finally win the Scottish Premiership again.
So far Gerrard’s Rangers side have already added the likes of Steven Davis, Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones and Motherwell forward Jake Hastie.
The Gers look set to have a promising summer transfer window. This will be music to the ears of fans of the club. Rangers supporters can look forward to continued improvement next season.
