According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Kilmarnock youngster Liam Smith in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Rangers have targeted the 16-year-old SFA Performance School striker.
Premier League giants Manchester City are also claimed to be interested in the teenager, with the talented and promising striker reported to have been down to the English club for a visit.
Rangers or Manchester City?
Smith is only 16 years of age, and it is clear that the teenager will not be ready for the first team at Rangers or at City for a few more years at least.
What is important for the teenager at this moment in time is for him to be at a club where he can develop at his own pace and where the youth system is best.
City have a brilliant academy, and although the pathway to the first team will be blocked due to the expensive signings that they make, Smith will be given ample resources for his footballing education in the coming years.
