Report: Not everyone impressed with Rangers star Ianis Hagi

Glasgow Rangers loan star Ianis Hagi has been named in the Belgian top-flight’s flop transfer team of the season, which was named by respected Belgian media outlet Voetbal Nieuws.

The 21-year-old joined the Gers on an initial loan deal in January, with an option for the Gers to buy him this summer.

Hagi has so far been impressive for Rangers as he has gone on to score three league goals from seven appearances.

The attacking midfielder was unimpressive for Genk during the first half of the season as he made 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals.

The ten-times capped Romania international is still a growing player.

Hagi is currently in a good environment where he can develop as a player with plenty of first-team football.

Under Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, he has a good opportunity to put the frustration from the first half of the campaign behind him and get better.

Based on the way that he is currently playing for Rangers, they should look to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

The youngster was not the only player with links to Scotland who was named in the Belgian flop transfer team of the season.

Another was former Celtic star Mikael Lustig.

The 33-year-old’s inclusion was a bit more surprising. He is vastly experienced at the highest level and one would have thought that his expertise would mean that he would be successful for any club that he plays for.

After winning virtually everything that there is to win in Scotland during a seven year spell with Celtic, Lustig moved to Gent last summer.

He has been a regular for his new club this season, making 28 league appearances but has not been very impressive.
