According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are interested in signing Alfie Matthews from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
It has been reported that Newcastle have made an offer to the 18-year-old forward, who is out of contract at Premier League rivals Arsenal at the end of the season.
The report has claimed that the Magpies are hopeful that Matthews will accept the offer, and that a deal will be agreed immediately.
One for the future
Matthews is only 18 years of age and is very inexperienced, but the forward is hugely talented and has a lot of potential.
Newcastle would be going a good deal if they are able to being the teenager to St. James’ Park.
Relegation fight
Newcastle are doing well under manager Steve Bruce at the moment, but the Magpies remain in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
The Magpies are 13th in the Premier League table at the moment with 26 points from 22 matches.
