Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has caught the attention of Italian giants Juventus, according to a report published by The Daily Star.
The 30-year-old joined the Toon Army in January 2018, initially on loan from Sparta Prague before the deal was made permanent during the summer of last year. He has since established himself as the first-choice keeper for the club and is a key player for Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle side.
Due to his strong performances in goal, Dubravka will attract the interest of other clubs and the Magpies will look to offer him a new deal soon in order to get him to stay, added the report.
Newcastle must go all-out to keep the keeper at the club. He has certainly reinforced the club’s back-line since he arrived as well as been a standout performer for Benitez.
A move to Juventus could be very tempting to the Slovakia international. The Old Lady of Italian football are one of the best club’s in world football and regularly perform well in the Champions League. With Cristiano Ronaldo now in their ranks, they could even go on to win Europe’s Premier club competition during the near future.
Juventus currently have former Arsenal shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny as their number one keeper. If Dubravka moves from Newcastle, he will most likely act as cover initially.
Juventus will be aware that he will provide strong competition to Szczesny. The Polish keeper still struggles with inconsistency and so if a deal goes ahead, Newcastle star Dubravka could fancy his chances of eventually becoming the first choice goalkeeper of the Italian giants.
