According to Football Insider, Leeds United’s director of football, Victor Orta, has made contact with Daniel James’s camp in order to persuade him to snub Manchester United and move to Elland Road from Swansea City instead.
It has been reported that Premier League clubs United are in pole position to sign James from Championship club Swansea in the summer transfer window.
Orta has reportedly contacted the 21-year-old winger’s camp to persuade him to stop signing for United until it is clear whether or not Leeds will play in the Premier League next season.
The West Yorkshire outfit are involved in the Championship playoffs this season, and won 1-0 against Derby County away from home at the Pride Park Stadium in the first leg of their semi-final tie this past weekend.
The second leg of the tie between Leeds and Derby is at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.
According to WhoScored, Wales international winger James made 28 starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for Swansea this season, scoring four goals and providing seven assists in the process.
