Championship high-flyers Leeds United are interested in making a move for Gabriel Martinelli who plays his football for Itauno, as reported by Teamtalk.
The report claimed that Middlesbrough and Premier League outfit Watford are two other clubs who are interested in securing the services of the youngster. Boro were reportedly informed of the player by their former star Juninho who runs Ituano.
Hence, if Martinelli is to move to England soon, the Riverside Stadium club could have an advantage to to their former players links with his current club.
Martinelli is regarded as one of the top up and coming talents in Brazil. It would be wize for a club to sign him now while he is a relatively unknown prospect as his market value will likely sky-rocket during the coming years.
He is reportedly valued at around £10 million as added the report by Teamtalk.
While this represents an affordable sum of money in today’s transfer market, it will be hard to see Leeds being able to fork out this sum of money even if they win promotion to the Premier League. If Marcelo Bielsa’s side do win promotion to the Premier League, it would also be ideal for them to invest money in bringing in players who are already experienced playing in England or at the very least, in one of Europe’s top five Leagues.
Even though Martinelli is a star in the making, it will take time to groom him and allow him to adapt to life in a foreign country.
