Leeds United have reportedly informed Samuel Saiz that he must find a new club within 11 days or return to the club, according to a report published by Football Insider.
The 28-year-old is looking to secure a return to his native Spain and was frozen out of the Whites’ first-team plans ahead of the second half of last season after being shipped out on loan to Getafe.
Leeds have no plans to take Saiz on their pre-season tour of Australia but they want to sell him permanently rather than send him out on loan again. He has two years remaining on his current deal with the Whites.
Saiz struggled to make an impression during his loan with Getafe who subsequently opted to not sign him for £6 million. The player went on to make just 13 appearances for the La Liga side, picking up one goal and so Leeds are unlikely to pick up a high figure for his sale.
Leeds need to bolster their side this summer if they want to secure a top two finish next season and secure automatic promotion to the top-flight.
For the majority of last season, they looked almost certain to secure automatic promotion to the top-flight before a late season slump in form caused them to have to settle for a place in the promotion playoffs.
They ultimately lost their promotion playoff semi-final tie against Derby County.
The Whites must look to bring in players to reinforce virtually every area of the squad ahead of next season. Some smart additions could make them the strongest second-tier side on paper ahead of next season.
