Bristol City star Callum O’ Dowda has turned down a new contract offer from his current club amidst interest from Leeds United, according to a report published by Football League World.
The report added that the reason why the player has rejected the contract offers is because he wants a move to the Whites.
Leeds are looking to bolster their side this summer. The Yorkshire giants missed out on promotion to the Premier League during the past season after having lost their promotion playoff semi-final tie against Derby County.
The Whites will be aiming to achieve nothing less than automatic promotion next season and to do so, they will ideally need to bring in players with past Championship experience.
O’Dowda has the potential to add value to the Leeds side but he struggled with injuries last season as he went on to make just 20 starts for his club, who finished in eighth position on the Championship standings.
If Leeds can take advantage of the winger’s contract situation, it could well be a shrewd move on Marcelo Bielsa’s part.
The Whites had Jack Harrison on loan from Manchester City last season but with the young Englishman’s future unclear, an added option on the flanks such as O’Dowda would be a boost for the Elland Road outfit ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
