Premier League club Everton are reportedly interested in making a move for FC Barcelona’s young defender Jean-Clair Todibo in the upcoming summer transfer window, as per Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The Toffees, under the management of Carlo Ancelotti, are looking to overhaul their squad for the future campaigns.
For this purpose, as per the news in Spain, the former Real Madrid manager has identified Todibo as a perfect fit to bolster the Everton defensive unit.
The 20-year-old is currently spending a short loan with the German Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04, which is set to expire in the summer.
The report further stated that Everton will have a chance to bring in Todibo to the Goodison Park as the German club have decided not to make the player’s move permanent.
It is believed that Everton’s hierarchy is quite optimistic about signing the French U20 international, largely because of having a good relationship with the Catalan-based club which led to the purchase of a number of Barcelona players in the recent past such as left-back Lucas Digne, midfielder André Gomes, winger Gerard Deulofeu and centre-back Yerry Mina.
Ever since moving to Germany, Todibo has only managed 664 minutes of first-team football in 13 matches for Schalke 04.
Everton fans will hope that a few new signings in the summer and a thorough pre-season under Ancelotti’s guidance will set the club up for a successful 2020-21.
