Everton are reportedly interested in signing Ajax Amsterdam attacker David Neres, according to a report published by Brazilian outlet UOL.
The 22-year-old is regarded as a promising young talent and has so far scored eight goals and provided eight assists this term in the Eredivisie from 26 matches.
The reported Everton target also assisted his side in causing one of the biggest upsets of this season as they knocked out Real Madrid during the last 16 of the Champions League.
Neres’ strong performances for his club have won him inclusion into the Brazil side and he made his national team debut during a 3-1 friendly international victory over Czech Republic.
The player could well be tempted by a move to Everton. He will undoubtedly be wanting to move to one of Europe’s top five Leagues at this point of his career and playing for the Toffees will grant him the opportunity to test his resolve against some of the world’s best.
With many of Marco Silva’s Everton attackers having been less than impressive this season, a move to Goodison Park will almost likely grant Neres his fair share of opportunities to impress.
The Toffees could stand a good chance of landing the player if they are serious as he is represented by the same agent as their own players Richarlison and Bernard.
Everton could be set to face competition from AC Milan. The Serie A side via sporting director Leonardo have already held talks, added the report published by UOL.
Neres would be a good addition to Everton but given the high profile of Ajax’s star players, the Toffees may have to shell out a club-record transfer fee to land him.
