According to The Daily Record, Rangers have opened talks with Josh McPake regarding a new contract amid interest from Liverpool.
McPake has one year left on his current contract at Rangers, and Gers manager Steven Gerrard is reportedly desperate to keep the winger at Ibrox.
The former Liverpool and England international midfielder is claimed to be a huge admirer of the 17-year-old.
According to The Daily Record, Rangers manager Gerrard wants McPake to be part of his squad that flies to Portugal soon for pre-season training, and he hopes that the 17-year-old winger signs a new deal by then.
The publication has also claimed that Gerrard’s former club, Liverpool, are interested in securing the services of the teenager.
The Reds are reported to have registered their interest in the winger, and so have Italian club AS Roma and German club Borussia Monchengladbach.
McPake is a very talented and promising young player, and Rangers have to keep him at Ibrox, as he could be a star for the future.
