According to Football Insider, Matthew Pennington is ready to cut short his loan spell at Hull City and return to Everton.
The central defender joined Championship club Hull on loan from Premier League outfit Everton in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has played just 17 minutes in the Championship for the Tigers so far this season, according to WhoScored.
Football Insider has claimed that Pennington is “immensely frustrated” at Hull and wants to head back to his parent club Everton.
The report has also claimed that Everton will look to send the central defender out on loan in the second half of the season.
Long-term Everton future?
Pennington is a very good defender, but at the age of 25, it is hard to see him have a long-term future at Everton.
The central defender has made only a handful of appearances for the Toffees’ first team so far in his career, and it is very unlikely that he will be a success for the Merseyside outfit’s first team.
