Report: Chelsea working on two internal deals, initial signs good on both

Chelsea are reportedly still hoping to see winger Pedro extend his contract to play the remaining matches in the ongoing campaign, according to The Sun.

The Spain international is looking set to leave the London-based club in the summer transfer window when his Blues contract will come to an end.

As per the English tabloid The Sun, Chelsea are now hoping that Pedro will extend his contact to help the club finish in the top for in the ongoing season.

The Premier League is set to resume next week after a gap of nearly three months due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The report stated that Chelsea veteran Pedro is willing to sign a contract extension to help the club but is waiting for Willian to do the same as well.

The Brazil international is also coming to an end of his contract with the Blues but is believed to be eager to extend his stay beyond the ongoing season, which is why he is not extending the current deal.

“Pedro is ready to play on,” the report quotes a source inside the London-based club as saying.

He knows he is pretty much certain of leaving Chelsea at the end of this season.

“He wants to do the right thing by the club too after a long time there and see the season out. But equally, he does not want to be the first one who signs before his pals have done the same.

“And Willian’s situation is a bit different to his own. Willian is open to staying on at Stamford Bridge. Pedro is not keen to ‘break ranks’ and go it alone.”

Chelsea have Hakim Ziyech joining the club from Ajax in the near future and as such Pedro’s opportunities were he to extend his deal may well be limited.

However, the Spanish veteran has been a loyal servant to the Blues in recent seasons and has shown that he can be an important man for Frank Lampard’s side.

Chelsea are fighting to qualify for next season’s Champions League and will hope that a strong end to the season will confirm this.
