English Premier League outfit Chelsea are interested in re-signing defender Nathan Ake from Bournemouth in the January transfer window, as per the Telegraph.
The Blues saw their two-window transfer ban reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) last week, which is why they are now allowed to sign players in the upcoming transfer window.
As per the latest report, the London-based club are eager to strengthen their defensive unit after shambolic performances against struggling sides West Ham and Everton in the previous two Premier League games and Chelsea have identified Aormer charge Ake as the perfect fit.
Therefore, the report states that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is considering signing the Dutch international and are ready to offer as much as £40 million for the player to the Cherries.
Ake spent two seasons with Chelsea’s U18 team but was not able to cement his spot in the senior team and eventually left the club after making just 17 appearances in the all competitions.
The former Watford defender permanently joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2017.
The 24-year-old has represented his current club in 107 matches in all competitions, where he has managed to score 10 goals and has provided five assists.
For Chelsea, landing Ake certainly would add strength in depth as the Stamford Bridge outfit look to finish in the Premier League top four this season.
