Glasgow Celtic are set to enter the race to sign Rangers target Ronan Darcy, according to a report which was published by Football Insider.
The Hoops were linked with the signature of the youngster during the summer transfer window but he ended up staying put with the League One club.
Bolton were forced to use their young talent last season amidst the club’s financial woes.
Darcy was one of the players who got an opportunity to play for the club’s first-team and he managed to impress.
Due to cross-border rules, Scottish clubs are able to sign players from England for a fraction of the price that clubs from other countries have to pay.
Darcy has shown potential and he certainly has the capability to succeed in the Scottish top-flight if groomed well.
A move to the Scottish top-flight with Rangers or Celtic could be good for Darcy at this stage of his career.
The SPL has proven to be a good place to learn for many players including Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney and Lyon’s Moussa Dembele.
Like most players, Darcy will also dream of one day playing in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Moving to the Scottish Premiership would certainly help to put him on the radar of elite clubs if he manages to impress.
