Aston Villa are prepared to table an improved offer for Brentford’s Neal Maupay, according to a report by Football Insider.
Dean Smith is believed to have already seen an offer for his former striker be knocked back by those at Griffin Park this summer.
However, the play-off winners are thought to be ready to make an offer north of £15million to finally reunite the pair over the next few months.
The Frenchman was exceptional under Smith and continued that fine form for the Bees following the manager’s departure as he managed to record 28 goals across all competitions.
Aston Villa are not the only side to hold an interest in Maupay this summer though, as the report by Football Insider also claims Sevilla have been linked with a potential switch for the former Saint-Etienne forward.
The Villans are continuing to prepare for life in the Premier League next season and are looking to bolster their squad.
They recently broke their club-record transfer fee on the acquisition of Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge when they splashed out £22m on his signature, per Sky Sports.
However, it appears another striker is on Smith’s radar as they look to cope with the loss of Tammy Abraham.
The England Under-21 international is expected to remain at Chelsea for the upcoming campaign following their transfer ban following a rather sensational year in the claret and blue.
Kourtney Hause saw his loan spell turn into a permanent stay after a rather impressive second half of the season after Aston Villa decided to pay Wolverhampton Wanderers £3m, per the Express and Star.
