According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa have held talks with former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.
It has been reported that Villa – who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs – are interested in signing Cahill on a free transfer this summer.
The 33-year-old English central defender is a free agent at the moment, having parted company with Chelsea at the end of last month when his contract with the Premier League club runs out.
Cahill started his professional club football career at Villa before making the move to Bolton Wanderers in 2008.
According to The Telegraph, Villa have held talks with Cahill over a move to Villa Park in the summer transfer window, but a deal is not close to being struck at this stage.
Villa have been quite busy in the summer transfer window, and have signed Jota, Wesley and Matt Targett among other players.
