Arsenal reportedly have sent scouts to monitor the abilities of Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu, according to Turkish newspaper Star.
The Gunners are in sixth position on the Premier League standings and trail the high-flying Foxes, who are in second place.
Arsenal have been woeful in defence so far this season and currently do not look as though they have what it takes to secure a top-four finish in the league.
Unai Emery’s job is under serious threat and many speculate that the Gunners manager will soon be sacked.
The Arsenal boss has failed to so far bring substantial change to the club since he succeeded Arsene Wenger as its manager during the summer of 2018.
The Gunners are currently just three points clear of 14th place Tottenham Hotspur. They are also eight points adrift of fourth place Manchester City.
Leicester star Soyuncu has been arguably one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League this season.
He has so far exceeded expectations since being appointed as one of the Foxes’ first-choice centre-backs after Harry Maguire left the club to join Manchester United during the summer transfer window.
Arsenal are clearly in need of a defensive overhaul going forward if they want to challenge the Premier League’s top teams.
David Luiz has failed to live up to shore up the North London side’s backline since arriving from Chelsea during the summer.
Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka’s future is also currently up in the air after he fell out of favour with supporters of the club.
The Gunners may however find Soyuncu a difficult player to ensnare, with Leicester surely very reluctant to entertain any advances for the Turkish enforcer.
