According to The Times, Newcastle United are interested in signing Granit Xhaka from Arsenal.
It has been reported that Xhaka will ask Arsenal to leave after being stripped off his captaincy.
The report has claimed that the 27-year-old is worried about losing his place in the Gunners’ first team and subsequently a squad in the Switzerland national football squad for the Euro 2020 finals next summer.
The Times has further stated that Newcastle manager Steve Bruce is “a big admirer” of the former Basel and Borussia Monchengladbach star, who earns £130,000 per week as salary.
Xhaka has made nine appearances in the Premier League and has played one match in the Europa League for Arsenal so far this season, according to WhoScored.
During the 2018-19 campaign, the Switzerland international made 29 appearances in the league for the Gunners, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
