Tottenham Hotspur have won the race to sign Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon, according to Liverpool Echo journalist Neil Jones.

The highly sought-after 17-year-old has reportedly been on the radar of both Spurs and Liverpool following an outstanding breakthrough Championship campaign, as the Champions League pairing look to strengthen their defensive options for the future.

However, as can be seen above, it seems the England under-19 international has chosen to join Tottenham.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp saw the left-sided player as an understudy for the experienced James Milner, but will now have to look elsewhere with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly securing his man.

Spurs are well known for their youth development success under the Argentine, with stars such as Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Harry Winks just three of several youngsters who have flourished during the 45-year-old’s tenure at White Hart Lane.

Sessegnon has the ability to play either in defence or midfield, something that was a trait of former North London hero Gareth Bale, and Tottenham fans will be excited at the prospect of another highly-talented starlet joining their squad this summer.

  1. If this is true, it just goes to show the pulling power our club now has, in respect of top young talent. This is 100 persent down to Pochettino. What this also acheives is keeping the established stars on their toes. You only have to look at how the likes of Walker and Dembele have come on since players like Dier, Alli, and Trippier have been signed. COYS!
