The Yorkshire Evening Post Journalist Phil Hay has claimed that Leeds United are not interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

While Bailey Peacock-Farrell has done well between the sticks, the Whites need someone who can provide him with more competition. They currently do not have that after Jamal Blackburn had to cut short his loan spell and return to Chelsea due to injury.

The 22-year-old Peacock-Farell is also relatively inexperienced at the highest level and has proven to be error prone for Leeds.

One of the keepers linked with a move to Elland Road who has excited fans of the club has been Heaton.

The 32-year-old Heaton has struggled for game time this season at the Clarets following the arrival of Joe Hart last summer.

Heaton would have been a good addition to Leeds. He has previously represented England and was even touted to be in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad. However, he was placed on the stand-by list.

His Premier League certainly would have been valuable to Marcelo Biesla’s side who are looking to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League next season.

Hay has however claimed that the 63-year-old Biesla does not want Heaton at Leeds.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds will reinforce during the January transfer window in a bid to bolster their promotion ambitions.
