Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has told Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp that his aspiration for the remainder of this season is to reach 20 league goals.
The 21-year-old has had yet another sensational campaign at White Hart Lane, playing an integral role in his side’s push for Champions League qualification and silverware by netting 17 times and assisting five.
However, the England international is keen to continue his fine form for the final three games of this term and break an unlikely barrier, with no other out-and-out midfielder reaching that milestone so far this term.
“As for this weekend, I think Tottenham will be too strong,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“I spoke to Dele Alli and he is desperate to get to 20 league goals, it’s not going to be easy for him, but I think the key for him, and Spurs, is in midfield.”
Spurs have again fallen just short towards the back end of the season in the race for the Premier League title, however the North London club have already clinched group-stage Champions League football for next term and guaranteed a long-overdue finishing spot above rivals Arsenal.
It has been another season of progression for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, with Alli playing a key part in several successful moments over the course of the season.
Tottenham bid farewell to their home of 118 years’ against Manchester United on Sunday, and what a fitting way it would be for one of their rising stars to seal the win with a milestone achievement.
