Leicester City cruised into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup by brushing Championship side Luton Town away at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday evening, and their fans were full of positivity for a man who made his debut in the clash.
The Foxes seem hell bent on taking this competition as seriously as they can, and even though they made seven changes to their line up for the clash at Kenilworth Road, by utilising the services of the likes of Youri Tielemans, Wilfried Ndidi, Jonny Evans and Ayoze Perez, it was clear that Brendan Rodgers meant business.
Leicester were made to work hard in the initial stages, despite looking a class above their opponents for large parts of the contest, but when Demarai Gray made the breakthrough there was only going to be one winner.
The special moment of the evening occurred just prior to half-time when Foxes full-back James Justin, making his debut against the club he left in the summer, fired home after a fine pass to set him up, a strike which was greeted with applause from both sets of fans, with the Luton supporters clearly not forgetting what the 21-year-old did for them.
It was little more like a training contest in the second half, as Leicester doubled the score to round out comfortable 4-0 winners, with Tielemans scoring the goal his majestic performance deserved, while substitute Kelechi Iheanacho rounded off the goals late on.
After the game though the attention was on one man, the defender the Foxes paid ยฃ8 million for in the summer, and who already on this evidence could be quite a bargain.
Leicester fans took to social media during the contest and after it to reflect on a wonderful debut for the England under-21 international, and acknowledge the progression to come from him.
Here are some of their messages:
Lots of very good performances tonight, albeit against a second-tier sideโs second string.
Justin, Evans, Tielemans, Praet, Gray and Albrighton all very good. #LCFC https://t.co/K3p92PetEf
